Medicare/Medicaid/Discouraged Workers

Medicare is a federal system of health insurance for people over 65 years of age and for certain younger people with disabilities. Under limited conditions, Medicare will pay some nursing home costs for Medicare beneficiaries who need skilled nursing or rehabilitation services. Medicare is used by nearly 48 million (as of 2010) people in the U.S.
Medicaid is a State and Federal program that will pay most nursing home costs for people with limited income and assets. Medicaid is used by more than 53 million people in the U.S.
Disourage workers are people who have not had a job for four weeks, and are no longer looking. There were 844,000 discouraged workers in August.

September 18th Blogpost

Today in Business Management, we learned about a website called LinkedIn. LinkedIn is a very useful site for potential eployees and employers. It has hundreds of jobs listed for people to look at, and is a great way for companies to get word out about themselves. Potential employees can go onto LinkedIn and type in a job they are interested in, and hundreds of options come up.
I haven't chosen what specific job I want to do, but I know it has to do with business. Some skills I need to aquire are leadership skills and marketing skills.
I know I want to work in business, but I am not 100% sure on a specific job. I have considered many things. At one time, I wanted to be a business owner and open up a horse-boarding barn. Another time, I considered owning race horses. I'm still not sure what exactly I want to do, but I know I want it to work in the business field, while being an author on the side. I know I can't be just an author, at least while starting out, because you just don't make enough money. But I would love to write on the side.
